My name is shengzhe wen, a boy who comes form China, My outward appearance are influenced by my hometown, Huber province, Wuhan city. Wuhan is hot during summer, and cold in the winter. There is no warm weather in my hometown, so I always keep a short black hair and wear T-shirt during summer time and wear cotton-padded jacket during winter time. In Wuhan, it is hard to live without air condition because of the weather. Take me as an example, when I try to go outside during summer time, I need to put sunscreen cream. if I don’t , my skin will change the colour instantly. Also,It only take one minute, you will sweat all of your body. And air condition is open 24hours to provide a comfort place. It’s the same idea in the winter.During winter time, It’s very hard to get up form the bed because of the cold weather. In this moment we need air condition to give us a warm place to live. In my hometown, Wuhan , We have different kinds of breakfast such as hot dry noodle, rice wine, Dou pi, Tang yuan, beef noodle soup and so on. I have been eat these things when I was a child, and I feel luck that I can born in this city. Eating breakfast is very important, so learn how to make a good breakfast is necessary. I learn skills from my mom, she teach how to cook hot dry noodles.( hot dry noodles or reganmian, the ingredients about this food include sesame soil, carrots, noodles , and soy sauce.one of the famous food in my hometown, Wuhan.)It’s really easy to make hot dry noodles. The first step is to put the noodles into boiling water , and than put the ingredients into a bowl. At last, put the noodles into the bowl and mix it. This kind of noodle is very popular in my hometown, and everyone who lives in Wuhan must learn how to make hot dry noodles. This one important symbol or cultural that I come from Wuhan. Although I come to California, I still make hot dry noodles during the morning. I will buy the ingredients in the Chinese market. https://youtu.be/e2z3-EnHKa8 -hot dry noodles From YouTube, Chinese Cooking Demystified I’m an outgoing person. I love sports, especially basketball. Basketball has been my passion for a very long time. While growing up, whenever I got a chance during my free time, I would go to the basketball courts by my house or to a gym where I could start my workouts. Everyone has the one idol that they want to be like when they grow up. My idol is Kobe Bryant, the five-time NBA champion, two-time scoring leader, two-time Finals MVP and 15-time all-star. From personal experience growing up and playing my favorite sport, basketball, I looked up to Kobe. He was a role model to me. Everything about him, the hard work, the attitude, the confidence, all drove and influenced my play. There were even times when I saw him make an astounding move on the court, and I went out to the court near my house and tried to imitate it, practice it and ultimately use it in the games I played. As I got older, I began to watch a lot of Kobe's videos, watching how he plays during the game and how he separates himself from everyone else in the NBA in order to achieve greatness. How he got to where he is now was by striving for perfection and doing what everyone else was not willing to do, whether that was waking up early in the morning to get his workouts in, being the first one at practice, or being the last person to leave the gym. Kobe once said, "The moment you give up is the moment you let someone else win." I have never stopped working hard to become great; I have sacrificed things to get closer to my dream. Just like how Kobe never gave up on his dream and did everything to achieve greatness and perfection, that is what I am striving for every single day. Every day, when I wake up, I realize that today is a new day to become great and to work harder than I did yesterday. The passion for basketball is what drives me to want to be great, just like Kobe. I still remember when I first time come to California, everything is new to me. For example, I went to watch the NBA game in Staples center. Golden state Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers. Before I come to America, I always see the game on television. It’s totally different between watch the game in television and Sit in Staples. I can feel the energy in the air, the passion by the people, and clearly view of the whole court. https://youtu.be/wV9CMVdY3dM From Lo Utubber92, YouTube (the video about Kobe) Now I’m in America College. It’s totally different between America and China. Sometimes will make conflict because of different culture. For example, In the American culture,Before start to eat, People always pray for god , put the food in their own plate , and wait until everybody is ready eat. Also, it is really important to serve the food as much as you can eat. However, In Chinese culture, we don’t need to do that. The food is put on the table, people can get food anytime if they want to. In the first beginning I’m not familiar with that, so I have some conflict with my American friends. He thinks that I'm very rude. After I communicate with them, we understand each other. At Last, I just want to mention that it is really a challenge to live in a different culture. I still got a lot of things need to learn such as culture difference, language barrier, and how to success in College. College is different with High school. No one will ask you to do the homework. It’s all about self-discipline . However, I believe I can getting better and better through my friends, Professor, and my family.
